Artist Spends a Decade Tweaking Robot That Draws Beautifully Organic Portraits

I just assumed that the act of repeatedly looking at the person was merely for show, to add some perceived personality. I was wrong! Trasset share with me the research paper in which he describes the incredible work that went into creating a robot that actually takes actions to mimic a person in order to recreate an image that it has seen.

Bloor West artist displays personal ‘brand of silliness’ at Runnymede library

Wed, 01/28/2015 - 11:52 -- rprice

It’s this love affair that inspired the character of Boris the robot, star of his own graphic novel, Boris Robot of Leisure. Published in March 2013, it’s an unexpected “human” story that combines “retro-futuristic science fiction, mid-century cocktail culture and silent comedy” as readers follow Boris on his quest for direction and contentedness. “I’ve always had affection for goofy 1960s sci-fi and the Tomorrowland gadgets that never quite made it into our future,” Miller told The Villager.

My work emphasizes the aesthetics of products through sculptures that echo the wonders of modern life and the intersection of man and machine. I collect products that have outlived their original use and recycle them as elements of my art, striving to make each piece a tribute to the designers of the original product and a celebration of their talents.

Actively Building a Robot while learning math, science and engineering. Being on the front lines of technology education, and using that technology to learn the math, science and engineering which is so hard to pick up in a passive chalk talk. Being involved on a competitive robotics team. Whether it's VEX, USFIRST, MATE or LEGO, robotics competitions provide an academic benchmark with a sports like competition. Kids are really motivated to excel because they are involved in something that is real to them.

Manufactured Love - A stop-motion robot love story

Wed, 08/14/2013 - 19:43 -- rprice

Our goal with Manufactured Love is to create a very professional, new style of stop-motion animation that is filled with smooth camera movements and beautiful, dark, charming, lovable robots. Manufactured Love will exhibit new camera movements with intricate rigging systems, creative trucking and GO PRO shots. The process began when I collaborated with a two time regional Emmy award-winning writer Kat Michels. We put our heads together and designed a story that captures the gritty desolation of Robot Land and the drive, love and frustration of the main character Artie.

UAV Drones

Thu, 02/21/2013 - 06:33 -- rprice

The birth of U.S. UAVs (called RPVs at the time) began in 1959 when United States Air Force (USAF) officers, concerned about losing pilots over hostile territory, began planning for the use of unmanned flights.[5] This plan became intensified when Francis Gary Powers and his "secret" U-2 were shot down over the Soviet Union in 1960. Within days, the highly classified UAV program was launched under the code name of "Red Wagon".[6] The August 2 and August 4, 1964, clash in the Tonkin Gulf between naval units of the U.S.
