What is Drupal?

I love this video. Looks like it is an ad for a Drupal event in the UK, but I think a lot of people could use this if the filmmaker would allow us to.

What is Drupal? from Larchmont Films on Vimeo.

With over half a million contributing developers in 200+ countries, Drupal powers over 2% of the web including such diverse sites as The White House, Economist.com, Examiner.com, Amnesty International, MTVuk, .net magazine and Data.gov.uk.

Drupal (pronounced drew-pull) is a Content Management System and web application development software written in a popular scripting language - PHP. Drupal has over 11,000 modules and over 1,000 themes, along with both a point and click interface to allow tech-savvy people to put together websites with no programming experience; and an API and framework for programmers to develop unique applications. Best of all, it's free, open source software!

I think it's a great coup for Drupal to be chosen for WhiteHouse.gov. It's a solid platform that's not going away.

I'm a WordPress fan, but the Drupal community has a distinctive look and feel that is unique and the modular construction turns out crisp, clean sites with ample functionality.

Hi - bit late responding here but just going through the stats for the video and saw it was embedded in your site - glad you like it!

We made the video with the help of a Community Cultivation Grant from the Drupal Association and yes, it was to advertise a particular event but yes, we did make it so anyone else can use it if they want to - seen it embedded in some sites which is cool.

Hopefully we'll make more soon ;)

Thanks again, Steve. I hope the community can put together more stuff like this.
