Thomas Thorspecken finds beauty in the mundane - Visual & Fine Arts - Orlando Weekly

Thu, 05/01/2014 - 13:23 -- rprice

“I bought my desk, bought the same computer I was working on at Disney, and spent several years at home teaching myself computer animation,” Thor says. “After several years alone I just couldn’t take it, staring at that computer screen, so I got out and started sketching.” That led to his next major creative phase, which launched in 2009 with his project to publish a sketch of Orlando on his AnalogArtistDigitalWorld.com blog every day for the whole year.

Warhol’s Amiga experiments were the products of a commission by Commodore International to demonstrate the graphic arts capabilities of the Amiga 1000 personal computer. Created by Warhol on prototype Amiga hardware in his unmistakable visual style, the recovered images reveal an early exploration of the visual potential of software imaging tools, and show new ways in which the preeminent American artist of the 20th century was years ahead of his time.

The World's Largest Collection Of Neon Signs Is Ridiculous And Amazing | The Creators Project

Tue, 01/28/2014 - 08:32 -- rprice

Looking through pictures of neon church/graveyard God’s Own Junkyard, we don't think we've seen this many illuminated signs since the climactic forest-of-neon-lights-death-scene in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo &Juliet. However, instead of setting the stage for a pair of adolescent star-crossed loves to die in vain, Chris Bracey (aka the "Godfather of Neon”) has set up a place for peace and Vogue photoshoots.
