Face behind Silicon Orange heading west - Orlando Business Journal

Tue, 12/18/2012 - 17:22 -- rprice

The software consultant and co-founder of Orlando Tech Meetup believes he and his company eventually will return to Orlando because of the talent here and the fact that Doccaster is a convention-related product and Orlando is one of the top convention destinations in the world.

“I want to look back when I am 80 years old and hear Orlando mentioned in the same breath with Boston, Austin, Texas, and Boulder, Colo., when referring to technology communities,” Steele said.

People... PLACE... Possibilities - Orlando Magazine - November 2012 - Orlando, FL

Tue, 11/06/2012 - 06:16 -- rprice

North of Livingston is the corporate campus, where digital commerce will fly through the air like invisible Frisbees, carried on the high-tech hopes of the community and kept aloft by investors with capital, catering to young, fast-growing tech companies.
Pipe dream? Perhaps.

The face behind Silicon Orange - Orlando Business Journal

Tue, 10/09/2012 - 08:42 -- rprice

Steele, 37, a software consultant and co-founder of Orlando Tech Meetup, thought the name was better suited to the tech community in downtown Orlando than Orlando Technology Corridor, another name being floated around in early June as a brand for the Orlando tech community.

“It gives us an identify and names the location,” said Steele, who is also co-founder of Doccaster (Gotootie Inc.), an Internet-based document hosting and distribution platform for events.

Oxford complex offers classic touches | TBO.com

Tue, 10/09/2012 - 07:44 -- rprice

the Oxford Exchange is built into a renovated 100-year old brick building on Kennedy Boulevard across from the University of Tampa, and combines an intimate bookstore, a Buddy Brew coffee bar, a home design retail store, a TeBella tea shop, and a gourmet restaurant.

"with the advent of people buying everything on the Internet, the question is what will retail spaces become? I think people want a social interaction, so we designed this space with that in mind."

Arthouse Coop Sketchbook Project 2012 Hits Orlando Florida | Poetic Mapping: Walking into Art

Tue, 10/09/2012 - 06:36 -- rprice

There’s a huge diversity of art on a variety of themes. Below is a snapshot of a selection of some entries based on a theme of Food.

The theme I chose for my entry was Thread and Surface, in which I began an exploration, in the sketchbook, of a second in my Books of the Dead series.
