Cuppow, a plastic to-go lid designed specifically for mason jars, turning them into portable travel mugs. While the two are very talented (and might I add, funny) guys, their skillset had limitations. Instead of outsourcing their operations though, all Panone had to do was swivel his chair.

Fringe, a 4,400 square foot converted warehouse space in Somerville’s Union Square, serves as a powerhouse coworking space for designers, engineers, photographers, developers and the like. For Panone and Resnikoff, these small businesses and talented individuals held the key to Cuppow’s success.

After Resnikoff pitched the idea for Cuppow to Panone last spring, and Panone finally convinced himself it wasn’t a “dumb idea,” they started quietly working on their project, telling very few about the lid due to legal concerns. Their Fringe crew was in on the secret, though, helping with everything from illustrating and graphic design for the packaging to brainstorming names for the lid.
