State of Drupal 2016 survey | Dries Buytaert

Wed, 04/06/2016 - 16:08 -- rprice

I've been writing a lot about what I believe is important for the future of Drupal, but now it is your turn. After every major release of Drupal I do a "product management survey" to get your ideas and data on what to focus on for future releases of Drupal (8.x/9).

Drupal.com refresh launched | Dries Buytaert

Tue, 08/19/2014 - 10:53 -- rprice

The new Drupal.com has become richer in its content; you'll find a bit more information about Drupal to help people understand what Drupal is all about and how to get started with Drupal. On a desktop, on a tablet, on a phone, the site has become much easier to navigate and read. I believe the new Drupal.com is a much better, more relevant showcase for Drupal. The goal is to update the site more regularly and to keep adding to it. My next step is to add more use cases and to include short demo videos of both the Drupal backend as well as the showcases.

What can the WordPress community learn from the State of Drupal? | Open Parenthesis

Mon, 06/09/2014 - 13:32 -- rprice

WordPress can help retain the Open Web. I was disheartened to hear Dries say basically we can’t stop the open web from closing. I don’t disagree with him about the increasing dominance of a few key players in our daily lives online, but I think the antidote to that is the continued presence of many smaller players, enabled by technologies like WordPress. The IndieWebCamp movement, BarCamp, and WordCamp all suggest to me a strong and vibrant future for the truly open web.

Boston tech IPO watch (August edition) - Boston Business Journal

Wed, 09/05/2012 - 05:35 -- rprice

Acquia, a Burlington-based provider of services for users of open-source Drupal web content management, on Tuesday announced that it's grown its ranks with the acquisition of spam-blocking company Mollom. Like Acquia, Mollom was co-founded by Dries Buytaert (pictured) who continues to be Acquia's CTO. Company CEO Tom Erickson told me earlier this year that Acquia has strong prospects for an IPO when the timing is right. On Wednesday, the new Inc. 500 list showed Acquia as ranking No. 8 among the country's fastest-growing companies, with $21.8 million in revenue last year.

Proposal from first Drupal Governance Sprint | Dries Buytaert

Wed, 08/08/2012 - 07:39 -- rprice

several community leaders in the Drupal project sat down with several community leaders from other open source projects and tried to hash out a governance structure to support the Drupal community's continued growth. "Governance" in this case, encompassing all the things we do to organize ourselves, make plans and decisions together, get things done, and resolve conflicts.

Here are the proposals we came up with, and we are actively seeking community feedback on the ideas within.
