Mysterious THE REPUBLIC Could Change How Florida Thinks About Theatre

Wed, 03/25/2015 - 08:50 -- rprice

While Elger says that the level to which each player participates is completely up to him or her, there will be some things that are out of the players' control. Sitting in a secluded second floor office, Elger, in her role as the Dungeon Master, Zeus, will be watching everything that's happening below on monitors, and will be in constant contact with her actors, who "might" kidnap players or guide them in other physical ways.

No Longer Wasteland, Orlando's Cultural Scene Grows Up - ABC News

Thu, 03/19/2015 - 06:37 -- rprice

Orlando always has had a strong theater scene, thanks to the many actors who work at theme parks, and also several acclaimed annual festivals, such as the Bach Festival of Winter Park and a fringe theater festival. But the construction of the Dr. Phillips Center, financed partially with taxes on tourists, gives the city a world-class venue for local performing arts groups and national touring acts.

Tipglo - Let's build a better creative economy

Thu, 03/19/2015 - 06:12 -- rprice

What is Tipglo? Tipglo is a platform that allows you to communicate with people who and are difficult to reach. Authors, celebrities, video producers, experts, bloggers, journalists, musicians – use Tipglo to respond to their fans. If I have a question can’t I just send an email or a tweet? Yes, you can, but you may not receive a response. Some people receive dozens, if not hundreds, of messages each day. They can't respond to most of them. If you need a personal response, Tipglo is a way to cut through the clutter and get attention. When will my card be charged?

Leviathan Studio | Home of Contact Improv on Lasqueti Island

Thu, 05/30/2013 - 12:53 -- rprice

Link title Your comment Leviathan Studio intensives offer the rare opportunity to study dance in a residential setting. Most of the intensives are week-long events with arrival on Sunday, departing on Saturday with 5 days study. It is the opportunity to study dance in classes during the day then practise in a jam setting in the evening that is special. All meals are included with the intensives, workshops, jams. The meals are extraordinary. All the food is organic. The greens are picked fresh before each meal. The animals are raised locally and the meat is prepared by local butchers.

Art Isn't Hard: An Interview With Brendan O'Connor | Ohlando

Fri, 05/10/2013 - 15:19 -- rprice

“Orlando is my context,” he says. “But it’s all subconscious. With the cardboard art festival, for instance. Just seeing what we did this year compared to the direction it’s taking as we plan for next year is very cool. And that progress happens just from opening it up to more and more people and their submissions. I didn’t seek to make those changes, they happened naturally. Same thing with the SIT project. Someone just donated a bunch of beach chairs, how Florida is that?” He is referring to his best known and longest running endeavor, the SIT project.

Live Active Cultures - Visual & Fine Arts - Orlando Weekly

Wed, 04/24/2013 - 12:44 -- rprice

Just the description alone – “an experimental performance by Jessica Earley featuring hyperbole, puppetry, dance, awkwardness, honesty and video projections to tell a story about heartbreak and healing” – was enough to conjure images of the kind of experimental performance art that was all the rage 40-plus years ago, but too often earns eye-rolls from today’s cynical audiences. “Hyperbolic” seems like the last adjective one might apply to the demure Earley, who I previously knew mostly through her visual art and past collaborations with performance artist Brian Feldman.
